Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Perch does with personal data. The controller is the operator of perchads.com. For UK data protection law, our lawful bases are set out below.

1. What we collect

• Account data — your email address, and the login codes we send to it.
• Content you submit — ad spaces, advertisements, images, link URLs, and any message you send to the other side of a transaction.
• Transaction data — what was charged, what you earned, your balance, and withdrawal requests. Card details are handled by Stripe; we never receive them.
• Operational records — a log of emails the service has sent you, so both sides can see what was communicated.

2. Visitors to sites running the embed

This is the part most privacy policies get long about, and ours is short: the Perch embed sets no cookies and does not track visitors. It requests the current advertisements for a space and displays one. We do not build profiles of a site's visitors, and we do not share visitor data with third parties, because we do not collect it.

Adding Perch to your site does not, by itself, create a cookie-consent obligation.

3. Why we use it, and our lawful basis

• To provide the service (accounts, serving ads, taking payment, paying you) — performance of a contract.
• To email you about your transactions — performance of a contract.
• To prevent fraud and abuse, and to keep the service secure — our legitimate interests.
• To meet accounting, tax and other legal obligations — legal obligation.

4. Cookies we do use

On this site (not the embed) we set a session cookie when you log in, so you stay logged in. It is strictly necessary for the service to function, and we set no advertising or analytics cookies.

5. Who we share it with

• Stripe — to take payment and to send payouts. Stripe is a separate controller for payment data; see their privacy policy.
• Cloudflare — hosting, storage and email delivery, acting as our processor.
• The other side of a transaction — a Site Owner sees the email address of an Advertiser who applies to their space, and vice versa, so the transaction can be reviewed and discussed.

We do not sell personal data.

6. How long we keep it

Account and transaction records are kept while your account is open and afterwards where needed for legal, accounting or fraud-prevention purposes. Login codes are short-lived and deleted automatically. Content you delete is removed from the service, though backups may persist briefly.

7. Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to access your data, to have inaccurate data corrected, to have data erased in certain circumstances, to restrict or object to processing, and to data portability. To exercise any of these, contact legal@perchads.com.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data you may complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

8. International transfers

Our providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on the safeguards those providers put in place, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.

9. Changes

We will update this page if our practices change, and will note the date at the top.
