About Perch Ads

Perch is an ad network for websites that the other ad networks will not take: small sites, local sites, hobby sites, and anything under the traffic floors the managed networks set.

What it is

A site owner marks out an ad space, sets a price per day, and pastes one script tag. A visitor who runs a shop or a service can click that slot and buy it. The site owner approves the ad before it runs, keeps 75% of what is paid, and can stop at any time.

There is no auction you cannot see, no behavioural targeting, and nothing stored on a visitor's device — which is why the embed does not need a cookie banner.

Why it exists

Display advertising has consolidated around scale. Networks that pay well have entry requirements measured in tens of thousands of pageviews or thousands of dollars of existing ad revenue, and the network with no entry requirement does not pay out below $100 — a bar a small site may never reach. The result is that a genuinely good site with a few hundred committed readers has no realistic way to earn from advertising, even though there is often a business two streets away that would happily pay to reach exactly those readers.

The whole product is an attempt to make that transaction possible without a salesperson, a media kit, an invoice, or a minimum spend. How it compares to the alternatives is set out in full, including where they are better.

Who runs it

Perch is operated by Perch Ads, based in the United Kingdom and governed by the laws of England and Wales. Company registration is in progress; the number and registered office will be published on this page and in the site footer as soon as they exist.

It is self-funded and has taken no outside investment. It is small, and deliberately so — but it is a business, not an experiment, and it handles other people's money accordingly. If it ever stops operating, the terms set out what happens to balances that have not yet been withdrawn.

How it makes money

One way, and only one: 25% of what an advertiser pays. That covers card processing, payouts, hosting and support. There is no fee to create a space, no monthly charge, no charge on an unsold day, and nothing is taken from a publisher's balance for any other reason. The full pricing page shows the arithmetic.
